Flingin' Delicious Tasty Chicken

Learn to Flangin' Cook...


...some good ass-chicken and caramelised onions.

What?


  • Chicken (Choose one)
    • Legs [x6]
    • Thighs [x6]
    • Quarters (Legs + Thighs) [x4]
    • Breast [x4]
  • Sun dried tomatoes [x24/x1 jar]
  • Garlic cloves [x5]
  • Cloud ear fungus [half brick] (Optional)
    • You can substitute with Mushrooms of your choice (e.g. Shiitake, Button, Enoki, etc.)
      • But seriously, use cloud ear fungus. It's amazing.
        • You don't have to though.
          • But you should. Available at any asian supermarket.
            • No pressure.
              • But fucking do it.
                • Up to you. :)

  • Cheap beer (x1/2 can/bottle)
    • IPA^(personal experience) = FLAVA ENHANSAAAH!!!
  • Lemon (x1/2)
  • Butter (x2tbsp)
  • Flour
  • Seasonings
    • Salt
    • Pepper

How?


  1. Hot box + preheat = 450ºF ≈ 232ºC
  2. Prepare solids:
    • Dry cloud ear fungus + water + bowl = Wet cloud ear fungus
    • Garlic + side of knife = Crushed garlic
    • Sun dried tomatoes = Sun dried tomatoes
    • Lemon + hands = Lemon juice
    • (Salt + pepper)^generously + top & bottom of chicken = Well seasoned protein
  3. Beer * mouth = Happy
  4. 1/2 beer * mouth = More happy
  5. Solids * baking dish = Half prepared/unprepared baking dish (based on your philosophical standpoint)
  6. 1/2 beer + S'n'P * baking dish = More prepared baking dish
  7. Chicken (skin up) * baking dish = Prepared baking dish
  8. Very hot (450ºF ≈ 232ºC) box * prepared baking dish + 20 minutes = Baking dish of almost safe, salmonella-free, chicken
  9. Somewhat hot box (350ºF ≈ 175ºC) * baking dish of almost safe chicken + 30 minutes = Dish of safe chicken
  10. Chicken * rack/plate/surface = Relaxing chicken
  11. Solids * bowl = Relaxing solids + braising liquid
  12. Braising liquid * (pot + high heat) + 10 minutes = Reduced braising liquid
  13. Butter + flour = Roux
  14. Reduced braising liquid + roux = Sauce
  15. (Chicken + solids) * sauce = Served

How?


  1. Onion * sharp metal = Halved onion slices
  2. Butter * (pan + low heat) = Melted butter in pan
  3. Onion^stir * (buttered pan + medium heat) + 10 minutes = Onions coated in butter
  4. (H to Oh + pinch o' sugar 'n' salt) * (pan of buttered onion slices) = Steamy pan full of onions
  5. Stir + couple minutes + 20 minutes = Half caramelised onions
  6. Cheap whiskey (1) * mouth = Warm fuzzy love
  7. Cheap whiskey (2) * half caramelised onions pan = Mhmmmmmmm
  8. Stir + couple minutes + 30 minutes = Caramelised onions
  9. Caramelised onions + (chicken + solids) * sauce = Super-Served
